Therapy, At Your Pace

I know starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but if you’re here, give yourself credit for already taking the leap of trying to find the right therapist for you. Here's what the process actually looks like.

A free 15-minute introductory call
We'll start with a short, no-obligation call so you can get a feel for how I work and ask any questions, and so I can hear a little about what's brought you to therapy. There's no pressure, it's simply a chance to check we feel like a good fit before committing to anything.

Online or in person
Sessions are available online, or in person at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill - whichever suits you better. Many clients move between the two depending on what's going on in their week.

How I work
I work from a relational, person-centred foundation, which means that I believe the relationship we build together is at the heart of any real change. Alongside this, I draw on techniques from other approaches, including CBT and psychodynamic theory, depending on what's useful for you at any given time. There's no fixed formula, I adapt to what you bring and need, session by session.

No fixed number of sessions
Everyone's pace is different, and there's no set programme to work through. Some clients come for a focused period of a few months; others prefer ongoing, open-ended support. We'll keep this under review together, and you're always free to end or pause when it feels right for you.

Your first session
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other - what's brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and answering any questions you have about how I work. There's no obligation to have it all figured out beforehand.

Confidentiality
What you share stays between us, within the usual professional and legal limits, which I'll explain clearly at the outset so there are no surprises.

You don't need a specific "reason" to come to therapy, just a sense that something doesn't feel quite right, or that you'd like things to feel different.

If you're unsure whether I might be the right fit for you, you're very welcome to get in touch with any questions before booking your intro call.
